We’re honestly not sure if Gaelle just had a bad morning or something but throughout the day we just experienced a very negative, cold, and dismissive attitude from her, if they’d over booked too many people for the boat and they were in a rush we just don’t know. If you’re brand new to scuba diving you might want to avoid this place if you're a complete beginner, or if you have never had any experience with diving before, but you want to have a positive experience overall... you might want to consider elsewhere. We weren’t introduced to whom is whom in the team in terms of Names on the day of the dive, the Female instructor we’re assuming is Gaelle, spoilt our dream and first ever time scuba diving. It’s been a few months since our experience, due to the terrible negativity expressed towards us by her. You should know how our money was basically taken with minimal care towards us. Even my work colleagues can’t believe that you’re placing your life in someone else is hands, but all you are to them is just another customer who should know everything before attending the diving centre.First things first, on the day of the scuba diving no one introduces themselves, so you don’t know who anyone is if you’ve arrived at a time that was never specified to you, (more on that later) you don’t get told what anyone’s role is, the "location".The only reason I’m submitting 2 stars instead of 0 is for the other two male instructors who looked after us in the sea, as these two other instructors were genuinely trying to give us a good experience, the view we saw the fish we saw, the videos taken all amazing, unforgettable and wonderful to actually experience.........However, the sheer ARROGANCE of the female instructor and her ATTITUDE just left us with so much negativity from the moment we arrived. Almost as if she’s demonstrating just by our presences that the "customers are delaying us and "we want to finish early we have to be somewhere later, we have so much to do, hurry up" kind of rushed vibe from her.The time we spent on the boat and the saving grace was the husband of the family (we think, as I mentioned earlier no introduction to anyone) who really tried to make us laugh and enjoy the experience, thankfully there were other tourists with us who we managed to have a laugh with to distract from the rudeness of the female instructor,....so why the negative review you must be asking...well please read below for the reasons why.We searched and looked up best places to Scuba dive in the area as it’s always been my partners dream, and saw all the good reviews for this place so a few days before we wanted to do the scuba diving, we went to the location which is:B13 Royal Road, Bain Boeuf, Pereybere, Grand Baie, on Saturday back in October.1. When we arrived there's a child at the front desk.... not an adult who can answer questions a child in his teens, 1st red flag, but we thought...everyone must start from somewhere and learn so fair enough and credit to him for taking on the responsibility of trying to learn, he told us the following:*"On the day of your scuba you arrive anywhere between 07.30am and 8.00am,"*He told us the price,*Pay a deposit now and rest on the day you will be diving,*Any questions "here's my mom's number please contact,"*You don’t have to do any courses or learning before scuba diving.*He told us “Someone will of course take pictures and videos for you on the day" (no mention or indication that this was separate price we were told this would happen on the dive experience)*"On the day you arrive everything will be done for you, and you will be told everything you need to do. I now need to take your contact details"2. Later that day only one of us gets text messages telling us to "complete learning"…...after we’re told “you won’t need to do any training” ......my partner had to forward me the learning for me to do as I never got anything,.....anyway completed e learning nothing complicated, we tried calling because we had a few questions but no one answered, Next day Sunday closed so no one to contact, tried calling them again on Monday no response phone just rings and rings, so we messaged the "Mom" very short replies to the questions we had.3. Tuesday, Day of Scuba diving, we're excited and about to leave but we get delayed because a glass broke in our hotel room, so we had to tell the staff for their safety when they're cleaning which delayed us by only a few minutes from leaving. We make our way to same place and it’s just after 07.35am we get text message (again no name given to us in the text or the number that’s contacting us) "where are you"....so I drop my partner whilst I go park the car, the female instructor was telling my partner off for being late she wasn’t even interested in what happened in us being delayed......" I said to her “we were told by this gentlemen (the boy at the reception) come between 07.30am and 8.00am, no one said to be her exactly 07.30am, we're only a few minutes after opening time”.....she couldn't care less she wanted the payment, we gave her the cash and she said "this is the price without VAT" you need to pay me extra....we said "this is price we were told", the child looked at his mum and he knew she was about to give him the biggest telling off but instead she decided to take her frustration out on us!! paying customers!!: " It was in the message I sent to you, DO YOU WANT TO PAY ME OR NOT, Its already very late?!” We don’t remember getting any messages about the price from her, We should've walked out there and then but we knew everywhere else was booked and who knows when we will get this opportunity again.....so we reluctantly paid with the money we were going to use for lunch, souvenirs, my poor partner, she’s going through counting the money and hands over the amount just for the money to be counted and then she tells us: "OK GO TO BACK THAT WAY, GO NOW PLEASE THEY WILL TELL YOU WHAT TO DO'......4. We didn’t know where we were supposed to go as there are no signs or anything but when we get to the back we’re not even greeted, everything is just rushed, the guy in the changing room is already talking to two other divers in French and he just looks at us and gives us a wet suit each:“You put this on,” …...looks at my partner grabs a wet suit ….” you put this on” ……gives us a box “put all your things in here” ……There’s no communication with what’s going on, what we need to do, how the day will be planned, when we’re doing what…this will be the plan for the day, roughly how long it will take, when to use the toilet, have something to drink……nothing.It was just…...” You try this on your feet……for you try this on your feet…. ok it fit, ok change into your suit please”My partner had to go into the toilet to change…. the toilet…...We get told to go to the front for our training which was very brief but the instructor he was willing to allow us to practice a bit more than he was instructing…. but it did feel very rushed,We didn’t practice how to be positioned when will be swimming, we were just told do this and do that when you swim, *This is how you clear the mask lets practice”,*This is how you retrieve your air if you’ve lost it, let’s practice…”We spent most of the time either kneeling, then we were lowered into the water to practice breathing and how to clear the mask if water comes in…but it could’ve been done with a lot more practice time for us to feel comfortable as it’s our first ever time doing this…. it all felt very rushed as if we’re expected to have practiced this before showing up…. we were helped out of the pool but again….no communication with what’s happening next.5……We were just told…. this group here, this group here……then “follow them” ……follow who???? There’s two groups…..the guy who was instructing us just jumps into a 4 by 4 truck and drives off…..the two groups are walking away….which one do we follow……..my partner breaks down in tears because this was her dream and we’re just being treated like we’re just another item on the factory processing line that needs to be moved onto the next stage of development and not actual human beings. We have no idea what’s going on…….there’s only the same child at the reception telling my partner “don’t cry why are you crying”…we told him how he was trusted to give us information but clearly he didn’t explain everything, then he has the nerve to say to us: “I TOLD YOU IF YOU HAVE QUESTIONS CONTACT MY MOM”….we told him we tried!!! There was another adult there but she only speaks French or Creole and I had to explain to her how everything is all over the place….she tells us how we should’ve kept trying to contact them after our booking,….we told her again “No one answer’s the phone!, the “MOM” didn’t communicate anything to us properly in her text messages either, this other lady who only speaks French or Creole (again no name, no introduction) walks us to where we’re supposed to go and luckily the boat is still there…..the female French instructor who was at the reception from the start just looks at us from the boat….in front of all the other divers, “WHAT’S YOU’RE PROBLEM?” she says from the boat, whilst we were standing in the sea, she could’ve climbed down and spoken to us in private but she didn’t really seem to be interested…..so we climbed aboard and she couldn’t care less about what I was trying to speak to her about she didn’t even acknowledge or address what we were saying all she could care to say was….”YOU CAN HAVE YOUR PICTURES AND VIDEOS BUT THIS WILL BE EXTRA COST”……we tried to explain our situation, it wasn’t just about the pictures and videos the price, but again she couldn’t care, all she said was….”THIS IS NOT MY DECISION IS THE MAURITIAN GOVERNMENT CHARGES WITH THE VAT YOU PAID EXTRA NOT ME WHO DECIDES THIS”….We’re not even talking about that, we’re trying to explain in front of all the other divers we don’t understand what’s going on, there’s no communication, everything is just so rushed…..she just walked away from us, as If she just couldn’t care or pretended that she answered the question, 6. We only presume that the other instructor who we weren’t introduced too was the husband of the family, he just asked us to stand at the front of the boat, whilst all the other divers just looking at us as if we’ve caused a scene, when just like them we’re trust trying to enjoy our experience……we start making our way to the dive site….again we have no idea where we are going as we weren’t told anything…..we get to the dive site and it’s an amazing view of Mauritius and we see all the divers all getting ready and going in, we’re told we will have to wait for the 2nd instructor to come back so we will have 2 instructor’s with us when it’s our turn. So 30 minutes goes by we’re just taking in the views and generally just waiting, no toilets to use we weren’t told beforehand if we were allowed to use before we went, our time comes and we get suited up…..this was the only positive as we were able to dive and we were really well looked after in the sea I must say by the 2 male instructors, I wish I could tell you their names but again we weren’t introduced properly.7. The dive itself took about 30 to 35 minutes, but it flies by, but we were having such a great time we just didn’t think of anything other than the experience of swimming that far down, it was wonderful.So our dive finished and we went back onboard, take off our equipment, the other divers went back down for their 2nd dive of the session and I couldn’t help but notice and I could’ve been wrong but it looked as if we were sharing swimming fins between divers…didn’t really seem hygienic if we were as there was only a certain amount of space on the boat and we didn’t bring anything with us as we weren’t told but other tourists seem to have their water and drinks taken with them…..8. We did have a good time just seeing sites whilst waiting for the 2nd divers to return, the husband of the Family running the site did show us specific things you would never see which was really great... once everyone was back in the boat and we headed back to shore, same chaos again…..”Everyone off make your way back to the centre”….The female instructor again just jumping into the 4 by 4 truck reversing it onto the beach, loads it up no communication to anyone just her and one of the instructors in the 4 by 4 driving off to the centre (which we’re not told which direction to head towards) the husband of the female instructor goes and parks the boat…..so we’re all walking hoping to be at the centre and we eventually make our way back, again no communication just chaos…..”everyone suits off dip in this bucket then hang to dry”…..we don’t know if we’re allowed to shower, wash anything off where do we go…..just madness…..we just follow what all the other divers are doing but even they don’t know what the right order is….we go and get changed but again no order, people jumping in front of other people to get to the showers….we’re changed and you can just see the female instructor and the other instructor they’re just rushing everything to clean the oxygen tanks whilst talking amongst themselves but not talking to any of the customers who want to know about their pictures and videos, when she does decide to communicate with us, again it’s just utter rudeness! “GO TO THE FRONT”….no communication, “how was the dive did you enjoy,” nothing…..just cold……we go to the front and eventually the female instructor comes to the front, she’s insistent we connect to her wifi…..but we have full data and we didn’t need to connect to their wifi and we weren’t even told why….turns out she’s more concerned about us completing the PADDI online booking to confirm we completed our first dive. 9. She helps us go through the form we have no idea what we’re filling out by the way, she just wanted to complete and mark that the instructors did their bit for us, the other two instructors came but again they’re all talking between each other not to the customers, the husband of the family throws a joke towards us and he’s trying to be friendly and we enjoyed his company because he tried to give us a good time, we get the videos sent to us but the other Go Pro has issues, so they tell us not to worry they will keep trying and by the afternoon they should come through……which we’re grateful for, but that’s it…..forms completed online…..some videos sent……are we done?10. Turns out we’re done but we don’t know again everyone is just talking between each other so we just standing there, say “ok thank you”….but nothing, the first instructor who helped to teach us he was just busy in his own world he just went off after he helped transfer the video from the go pro, he didn’t ask us how it was for us first time diving, nothing……the female instructor….she was just rushing through paperwork behind the reception desk no interest towards paying customers…how we are, if we’re ok, how did it go, did we enjoy the experience nothing…. No good bye, thank you for choosing us….nothing just utter coldness, so we just make our way out to the car….as we’re driving back the videos are coming through as promised and we’re left conflicted……did we have a good time or not……we got to experience a lifelong dream….we saw some incredible views….got to have a laugh we have the amazing videos to reflect on but…there’s an overwhelming shadow of negativity…..I just thought it would be important to communicate our experience as before this scuba diving and someone who struggles to swim as I’ve had two previous experiences where I’ve nearly drowned this was a huge psychological factor to overcome and go ahead with the dive, I mentioned this to the two male instructors as well, it took a lot for me to prepare myself mentally to be prepared for the day and I just don’t want anyone else whose made it this far into the feedback I’m providing that they understand that it might not be what they expect, especially if you’ve saved up so much money for the holiday and wanted an experience that will stay with you forever, maybe you might want to go elsewhere until this lot improve.Publié sur Bedc Mvérifié BAPTÊME a Coin de Mire Merci infiniment pour ce baptême de plongée pour moi et la plongée d’antoine.Manuelito et gaelle sont adorables, bienveillants, attentionnés, pedagogues et professionnels.L’equipe a Bord est formidable et attentionnée également. DISRESPECTFUL! You need to take responsibility. Money is secondary to safety. Your cynical response shows once again that you absolutely do not tolerate criticism or are open to feedback. You're telling lies again. The instructor went up without giving any sign. The other diver even showed it on his underwater camera, that the instructor ignored him and swam away from him when he indicated he couldn't get air. The instructor didn't give me any sign at all. It's very sad that you're now denying it and making things up.The way you're writing things now only reinforces your own lies. If you read other reviews below, you'll react exactly the same way you do now and did back then at your dive center. I did the second dive because my equipment worked perfectly. I also saw that you had replaced that other tourist's equipment. You threatened me, you know that yourself.The taxi driver was the independent witness, and his name is also in the police file. Are you really saying you didn't take pictures and video of your colleague with that turtle? It's all on video from that other diver. You have absolutely no respect for marine life! I had to ascend because you and your group had already moved on, and my instructor had left me behind without a signal, and he would never know what had happened to me. If he were even worried about that... The instructor was just yelling on the boat. The kind captain had to calm him down. Well, my taxi driver is REALLY from Mauritius, and he had no idea what you were talking about. It's fantastic that you recorded everything and that you're now mentioning it so clearly in this review. I'd like to ask you to post that footage with sound here, because then you have nothing to fear, right? Problem solved! While this diving center has many positive reviews, my experience for the Open Water Diver course was quite difficult overall. From the beginning, communication felt strained and the atmosphere was not very welcoming. The main issue was the instructor, who was rude and dismissive, making training stressful rather than supportive. The pool for confined water was also quite small for five persons.
